Adolphe Blanc – String Quintet No.7 in E Major Op. 50 – Full Score

, ,

The French composer Adolphe Blanc (1828-1885) was a prolific composer of chamber music. This quintet is an arrangement for strings of perhaps his best known work, the Septet op 40 (for the same instrumentation as Beethoven’s septet).

Largely Classical in style, although with a distinctly un-Classical tarantella as its scherzo, it has an independent double bass part and makes a lively addition to the chamber music repertoire featuring the instrument.
